Shoran’s recent works explore the idea of destiny, which begins at certain point and leads to an unknown place. There are so many uncertainties about our lives as human beings – we are making a journey, but in fact it is a combination of many journeys. I chose smoke to present this idea. The abstract shape and the unpredictable form of smoke are just like the features of our destiny, our intertwined journeys.
I try to use simple colour, just black, to draw people’s attention on the shape of the smoke instead of the colours. The other material I use is silk, which is sensitive and fragile. As a human being, we all are fragile but still need to be strong when confronting our destiny.
